Rotting Carnations

She sits there alone
Head in her hands
Crying about the past
Of the hurt inside
She feels so alone

He is miles away
Forever being drunk
Lost in a bottle
Never forgiving himself
For what he had done

But there on the window
Long forgotten and neglected
Is a reminder of their love
But now faded and died
A vase of rotting carnations

Careless Me

Have you seen it anyway?
Maybe underneath a tree
Or buried deeply underground
Maybe hidden above in the sky
Because I have looked everywhere

It was very careless of me
To misplace it when it should be safe
If only I had locked it away
I would still have it here, close by
Now I know that it could be anywhere

I think I may have given it away
To someone I trusted to look after it
Now that person is gone, and disgarded it
Thrown it to one side like a piece of rubbish
So I will search to find it somewhere

Heed my advice, and always look after yours
Protect it, keep it with you at all times
It needs you to be strong, stronger than I was
For if you lose it, I fear it may be broken
My heart is missing and I can  find it nowhere

I Am A Broken Man

I am a broken Man
Made of glass, shattered
Pieces of myself found
Like smashed rain drops
Adorning this dusty floor

Do you believe a man can cry?
Weeping of the love he lost
That his soul, now forever damned
Could not take that needed step
To take him in the right direction

That man is a dark, fallen fool
I am he, who fell hard from grace
Never able to find that moment
That passing second, all I needed
But my pitied pride kept me back

So the heart aches, no more say I
Leave me suffering with my demons
Let the broken shards lie where they are
That which once contained true love
That I carelessly dropped from my hands

Invisible Girl

She only wants someone to love
To have someone to love her
But she is so scared to reach out
To show how she really feels

He keeps passing by her every day
So near to her, in the corridors
So many times she wishes he would see her
If only she could be one with the crowd

She is an invisible girl, hidden from sight
Always kept in the dark, never the light

She smiles at him, from across her desk
But he never notices she is looking
Every girl is always catching his eye
But she never seems to be the one

She always sends him secret love letters
Someone else seems to take the credit
Why can't he see her feeling this way?
Her heart is breaking, yearning for him

She is an invisible girl, hidden from sight
Always kept in the dark, never the light

Suddenly he turns to her and he looks away
He never notices the tears she is crying
She is too scared to try grabbing his hand
Thinking she will never be good enough

If only she knew the thoughts in his head
He wants nobody else, to to be with her
She makes him tremble, too afraid to speak
If only she would talk with him, call his name

She is his invisible girl, hidden from sight
She hides from him in the dark, never the light

Holding An Angel

 Like jaggered, rusty copper nails
Hammered, with malice, into my skin
My heart is bleeding with raw pain
Tearing me apart, agony resides

To love and face your selfish abandonment
Of the woman you tried to share your soul
But the morbid fear of the past came creeping
And you pushed away without knowing the game

Never seeming to realise that to you, she is beauty
That in the eyes of others, her beauty also shines
You tried so hard to keep her, but you used a cage
Only to feel her slip away because she needs to be free

This man has loved and lost, for this must be the last time
When you have perfection and allow it to slowly slip past
Like the ice cold water that runs through your fingers
If you hold on to an Angel too long, it will fly away

Between A Wall And A Bottle

Come, sit at this table
Share a drink with me
And I will tell you my tale
Of how I came to be here

That's it, fill up your glass
The whiskey burns at first
But you get used to the taste
Funny, it never blocks the pain

I fell in love, with a maiden beauty
We gave in to our own hearts
Never knowing we would fall in love
Never knowing we would lose our souls

She gave me everything, gave me her heart
But, I fear, I left her with pain and torment
Why?, because I could not surrender to her
I was unable to escape from my own wall

Let me explain, please have another glass
We build emotional walls to hide behind
Believing we can knock them down
Alas, the higher the wall, we are trapped

I left her trying to reach me over mine
This damned wall wouldn't let me free
So, I fear, she has left me alone
Trapped between a wall and a bottle

Never let yourself be blocked in, my friend
Or you will suffer forever just like me
Go home, tell her how much you love her
And knock your damned wall down

I Don't Care

I don't care this World keeps spinning
Turning me around, day after day
It keeps on going, keeps on rotating
It can't take this heartache away

I don't care if the birds keep on singing
Their song means nothing to me
They carry on, always with their song
I hear only a sound, because I am empty

I don't care if the heart is still beating
And the brain still is thinking
They say the body will just stay strong
Well, into misery this body is sinking

I only care I lost my soul, she has gone
Because I couldn't find the right time
The past keeps playing its' old tricks
I am left like the poem without a rhyme

Yesterdays Tears

I no longer face the day

Embracing a night that nears

Tomorrow seems so far away

Still living yesterdays tears

I can no longer forgive to forget

Giving a voice that nobody hears

There is no comfort as the Sun sets

Still living yesterdays tears

I am no longer able to escape the past

The mist in my mind never clears

Nothing good ever seems to last

Still living yesterdays tears

I can no longer see any point

I am lost in these hidden fears

Secret pain like a broken joint

Still living yesterdays tears

Words To Tell

Sometimes I have to ask a question

To here the answer I need to hear

To know someone feels the same

And not to leave me standing here

I am still waiting, wanting your reply

Or am I just destinied to feel alone

Wanting someone special, someone close

Wanting no longer to be on my own

So I took a bottle, threw my message in the sea

Watched the waves take the bottle far away

So time passed, and I stayed and I waited

An endless number of bottles came back today

So many souls feel the cold isolation as I do

They need the warmth and love to feel as well

If I knew you loved me, If I knew you really cared

Please let me know, love me with words to tell

Valley Of Tears

In the valley of tears

No one listens, no one hears

No one ventures, no one dares

No one never comes for no one cares

Alone in the valley I travel

As my thoughts fall and unravel

My tears tell stories of mistrust

They will always stain the dust

Long ago I entered this valley alone

Then it became my home

And as I stand here and stare

I am joined by the millions there

The valley is always barren and dry

No matter how many tears we cry

You will be a victim for countless years

A prisoner trapped in the valley of tears

Used To Be

Used to be a time things went right

When things always seemed bright

Now I always get the blame

Everything now just seems the same

Used to be, it used to be

Used to be in love with me

Used to be, it used to be

Used to me you loved me

Used to be life seemed so good

Everything I did was understood

Now I always hesr the same old song

Even when I am right ... I am wrong

Used to be, it used to be

Used to be in love with me

Used to be, it used to be

Used to me you loved me

Used to be life was worth living

All seemed to be there and giving

Now there is nothing left to be sought

My head is only an empty thought

Used to be, it used to be

Used to be in love with me

Used to be, it used to be

Used to me you loved me

Used to be I never had you

That my life was never true

Then you showed me how to be

Now you are always here for me

Used to be, it used to be

Used to be in love with me

Used to be, it used to be

Used to me you loved me

Two Words

Time passes

Nothing lasts

Noone cares

Noone there

Heart cries

Love hurts

Minds shatter

People go

So alone

Nothing matters

Without you

Lost love

All gone

Just say

Two words

Too Blind To See

Everything seemed to be okay
Never knew it was going wrong
If only you could give me another day
To help us still be able to belong
I was just too blind to see
Too blind to see

Never knew in what I was dealing
When all I was doing was hurting you
Should had felt what you were feeling
When your love for me was still true
I was just too blind to see
Too blind to see

All the times you were waiting for me
And I took for granted what we had
In the end I left you feeling empty
I was the one who made you sad
I was just too blind to see
Too blind to see

Please can you give me one more chance
So I can now begin to get it right
Can we try again with our romance
Take me from the dark, back into the light
I was just too blind to see
Too blind to see

Iam here begging you to forgive me
Please will you take me back once more
I will be that man you want me to be
I will never go back to how I was before
I was just too blind to see
Too blind to see

Throwing It All Away

He used to touch her soul
Now he sits there all alone
Too proud to find a way
To say how he really feels

In his younger days he smiled
But the years wiped it from him
Changed the light into the dark
Now he is waiting for nothing

He pushed her away from his side
She would have given him the world
If only he had opened up a little bit
He let the past destroy their future

That was so many years long gone
He is an old man now, twisted and bitter
Empty inside, his emotions have long flown
Staring at the wall as if it's a picture show

He has thrown it all away, there is nothing left
Sitting in his chair, finding another grey hair
Never wonders about what she is doing now
He finally closes his eyes and the lights go out

The Secrets I Have To Hide

You may see me smile
I may look happy inside
But tears come after a while
The secrets I have to hide

My words can touch so many
My stories may be told
I relish being in your company
Words that can be so bold

Read them with love and delight
But this poet has known much pain
Sometimes I want to give up the fight
When the tears come from the strain

Words of a poem are like a song
Sometimes sadness sings in this soul
Sometimes my spirit only wants to belong
I feel alone and these emotions still flow

I am here awake while she is asleep
Thought of a life that passes me by
My lover dreams as my soul will weep
These come when lover's must cry

I know not what tomorrow will bring
As I look out at the sky this night
Somewhere my Angel flies on the wing
Somewhere for me a candle is alight

All I want are the passions, inside, to share
Is there someone to show me new ways
To ignite the flames of literture and keep it there
Keeping my quest for words through the nights and days

A poet, at times, has a lonely life to lead
Living in the light as well as their dark side
Writing words for everyone to come and read
The secrets I have to hide

The Other Side Of Love

They say that love is blind.

Love ripped out my eyes.

It came and devoured my soul.

Then left me out on a cold floor.

Leaving me trying to pick up the pieces.

They say love is in the heart.

Love come and cut out mine.

Left it bleeding within my soul.

Left it still beating in solitude.

Pulsing alone within the pain.

They say that love hurts.

Love has loved me too much.

With each red hot needle in my skin.

With each well aimed kick.

Love has shown me my own place in hell.

The Hearts Lonely Reflection

The hearts lonely reflection

Leads sometimes to rejection

The pain hurts like the tears

Broken and left alone in fears

So easy to write about it there

To find the words I need to share

Relating for those to understand it

Holding my head in despair as I sit

Broken hearts are like a mirror, shattered

Broken like the pieces of glass, scattered

They say time will help it to heal

That will not help the way I feel

The loneliness comes creeping

The empty bed doesn't help me sleeping

The hurt of this life leaves no sellection

I only have the hearts lonely reflection

The Heart Aches But Time Will Heal

A broken heart hurts the most
Every nerve feels like breaking
Your mind goes into overload
Your body starts to shake
You can never stop the tears

You want to be able to hold her
Tell her nothing is as it seems
That your heart belongs to her
You know she somewhere crying
But she is an ocean away to hold

You want to tell her she is the only one
You know the pain when someone cheats
Can she understand you have friends?
And friends they will ever only be
You want this hurt to just go away

You thought that she really understood you
Of the happiness that she would always bring
Your soul, body and heart belonged to her
You shared your words with all the world
Now a broken man sitting in the dark alone

You lost that special purpose in your life
And the fight has been drained away from you
You know she will never forgive or ever forget
But you pray one day she will be coming back
For this maiden you know you will always ache

But you can at last feel the warmth of a smile
She has contacted you and the day begins anew
You can feel the black clouds drifting away
Your heart begins to beat in union with her again
And in time you know you can both heal

The Darkest Of Hearts

She never knew how to be really loved

To feel a gentle touch or a sweet kiss

No one could touch the darkest of hearts

No one could grant her wish

Times passed, and her heart grew colder

Darkness seemed to always dwell within

She still desired for someone to save her

Someone who could let the light in

If only she could, once more, open up her heart

Find that missing piece of her hidden soul

To reach for a man who would be her prince

A man who would help her reach her goal

But men only seemed to always do her wrong

She always looked for one destinied to stay

But the darker that became her heart

The further she always pushed them away

The darkest of hearts sometimes can shine

It just needs to find a true guiding light

For then, when you no longer have the darkest of hearts

You find that your heart is now shining bright

Standing Here

If you ever saw me standing here

I wonder what would you say

Would you come close, be near

Or would you turn and walk away

If I tried to talk to you

Would you listen to me

I wonder what you would do

Would my words just be empty

Could you ever show me love, somehow

Or would there be broken promises made

Could you be my friend and lover now

Or would you worry my looks would fade

If I read you poetry, would you think me mad

Told you stories from the greatest tales

Would you be happy with what we had

Or is this another relationship that fails

Can you understand me with what I utter

Do these words make you understand

Or do they become another empty mutter

Cast away just like a grain of sand
